inCourage Chorus 13-Week Fall Season!

08/01/2020 07:00 - 12/02/2020 11:15 Buena Vista, CO 81211, USA

Raise your voice, your vibration and your spirit in community song!

The inCourage Chorus is a non-audition, nondenominational, all-ages community choir.

We welcome singers, recovering “non-singers”, breathers and talkers of all experience levels to commune in songs from around the world spanning culture, tradition, and language.

Song is among the most ancient forms of human expression, allowing us to open our hearts and minds not only to joy but to the expanse of the human experience.

Come celebrate the wholeness and harmony of life through the medicine of music!

All songs are taught and shared in the oral tradition. We do not use written music but teach in a call and response style. We also make audio recordings available to our choir members during the season with each section’s part separately recorded so that members can practice on their own. No experience necessary and all are welcome!

DATES:
Our 13-week autumn session will meet the following dates:
– August 26
– September 2, 9, 23, 30
– Bonus Session: Saturday, September 14
– October 7, 14, 21, 28
– November 4, 11, 18

Members will also be invited to join a daylong retreat on Saturday, October 19th during the season in a forested canyon above downtown Santa Barbara.

We will conclude the season with twos final benefit concerts on Friday, November 22nd  (in SB) and Sunday, November 24th (in Ojai).
Participation in the concert is optional.

PRICING:
– $150 scholarship rate
– $200 standard rate
– $250 supporter rate

Please pay at the level you can. To inquire about further adjustments or payment plans, speak to the inCourage Chorus Registrar.

Because we will be working on more complex songs over the course of 13 weeks, we don’t allow multiple drop-ins and encourage folks who want to return for multiple sessions to join us by buying a season pass.

We allow a one-time drop-in visit for $15. One drop-in is permitted per person, per season.

Need to miss a meeting? No worries!
This is not about perfect attendance. We encourage our members to attend as often as possible and utilize the sectional recordings on their own time to familiarize themselves with the repertoire should they need to miss a meeting or two.

Need a payment plan or adjusted rate?
Please speak with Gwendolyn, our SB iCC registrar.
No-one turned away for lack of funds!

A NOTE ABOUT WHITENESS:
We are white-identifying facilitators committed to undoing white supremacy internally and systemically, and specifically in our facilitation of this choir and our community song offerings. That said, we acknowledge that an all-white facilitation team will in itself mean that some People of Color will not have the sense of ease and trust needed to participate. We are mourning this, and holding the dilemma of dismantling white supremacy while still being embedded in the legacy of white supremacy. Having said that, we welcome people of all racial identities.

Song carriers Benjamin Gould & Britta Gudmunson share from the heart and facilitate song in the oral song tradition. They believe music truly is medicine, and it is also every human being’s birthright. It is their mission to bring community together in a spirit of courageous, musical expression and activism while exploring the connective instrument of voice. Members of the Ubuntu Choir Network, Ben and Britta are graduates of the Community Choir Leadership Training in Victoria, BC. They’ve been singing together for over six years and have a deep connection to the ways song can mend the heart, mind and creative spirit.
